Our report on events for overall activities over the past two years is attached.
It has been our purpose to provide a variety of activities appealing to the wide variety of ages and interests in our chapter.
- To support PAS programs and goals
- Promote fellowship amongst our members and encourage new members to participate
- Raise Tzedakah for worthy causes
- Interact and cooperate with other synagogue groups
- Create a variety of programs – religious, social and educational
Also as a part of a joint initiative by the Cantor’s Assembly and FJMC, the Men’s Club helped to begin Passionate Davening – to bring additional spirit and spirituality into the Friday night Shabbat service. the service became so popular that it is now our Synagogue's Friday night Shabbat service. From our program funds the MC enables additional musicians to be at the "enhanced" service which is celebrated once a month.
In addition to the activities attached we actively work to raise Tzedakah. Our major fund raising is done through annual events: Roses for Rosh Hashanah, Passover Wine and Matzoh sale, Yom Hashoah Candles and FJMC Metro Region Awards Journal (net proceeds are split by the region and the individual clubs.) Over the past two years we distributed Tzedakah to the following:
Metro FJMC Fund for Gulf Coast Synagogues impacted by Katrina
Hebrew Free Burial Association
Park Avenue Synagogue
Camp Ramah in the Berkshires
Project Ezra (in addition to the Chanukah Party, which comes from program funds.)
Masorti Synagogue – Karmiel, Israel
UJA Emergency Fund for Israel
Masorti Emergency Relief Fund
Our efforts have brought a great sense of accomplishment and camaraderie among our our members.
Membership has grown from 147 in 2005 to 189 at the end of 2006 and a final drive for members to close out 5767 we are over 200
