Best Mitzvah/Social Action Program-Gold
A Bronze Veteran's Plaque was unearthed at a local landfill in early 2000. One of the town engineers, a Board member of our Brotherhood, brought its discovery to the attention of the Board of Directors. The plaque was stolen from the burial plot of WWI Jewish Veteran, Bernard Porter. An action plan was immediately devised and a committee was assigned to find out where it came from, arrange for its return, and to locate surviving family to let them know what happened. The year culminated in a rededication ceremony for a new Granite Plaque attended by members of cooperating organizations, our members and family of Bernard Porter.
