The Tefillin Fund is not just Tefillin! The Fund is named because every year, the FJMC and Rabbi Simon, through the fund distribute dozens of sets of Tefillin to our Masorti affiliates in Central and South America, Europe, Africa and Israel as a result of personal and club contributions to this fund.
The Tefillin Fund does cover the cost of other badly needed Jewish Ritual items for these same communities across the globe. This year we are seeking to deliver 400 Mezuzot to Cuba in time for the World Wide Wrap on February 5th!
When planning we thought the greatest wish of the Cuban Community would be for Tefillin. However the Cuban Jewish Community's ritual need is highest for something "basic" that we take for granted, Mezuzot. Therefore the FJMC is bring 400 mezuzot with us to Cuba.
We will also bring copies of Tu Hogar es Tu Santuaro, the Spanish Translation of FJMC's booklet, Your Home is Your Sanctuary: A Mezuzah Housewarming Party.
The Men of Reform Judaism is supporting this effort. Together we need your help to bring 400 Mezuzot with us.
Your gift of $36 made by January 26th can provide a Cuban home with a Mezuzot and the instructions needed to mount it properly. To donate - complete the form below.
For the second year - FJMC has partnered with Women-of-the Wall (WOW) to provide needed Tefillin for their Bat Mitzvah initiative. The cost of these Tefillin are $300 per pair. If you wish to contribute to this special partnership, WOW, please click here.
The cost of a set of Tefillin sent to Masorti congregations around the world ranges from $230 to $354 depending upon size, type and quality. To learn more about Tefillin costs, sizes and quality click here.
