HaShofar Oct13 - Meet the Officer

Allan Gottesman - Prince of Purple

Meet the Officer: Allan Gottesman, International First Vice President (or, The Color Purple)

Allan Gottesman, the newly installed First Vice President of FJMC, holds several professional designations. He is not only a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Florida, he is a Chartered Accountant in the Province of Ontario, Canada and a Certified Valuation Analyst from the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. If you’ve got beans, Allan can count ’em.

If you have ever spent any time enjoying the hospitality and good spirits of the International Kiddush Club – perhaps at the LDI, perhaps at Convention – you may have noticed the presence of an unmistakable color scheme. Hockey shirts, baseball caps... they all bear the signature hue of Allan, the Prince of Purple.

Allan’s long track record with FJMC includes his Charter Member status in the International Kiddush Club. He’s also a former Men’s Club president, former president of the Florida region, and a survivor of the world famous Anshei Darom retreat sweat hut. In 2007, Allan received the FJMC’s Ma’asim Tovim award in recognition for his exceptional leadership in the Florida region.

Since moving to south Florida 29 years ago, Allan has always been highly involved in the activities of the local Jewish community. He has served as his synagogue’s treasurer, Israel Bond chairman and Golf Committee chairman; on the boards of the Jewish National Fund, Friends of the Israel Defense Forces, and Mercaz USA; and as both chaperone and participant in the March of the Living.

Allan and his wife Caren, a Registered Nurse, are fortunate enough to have their children and grandchildren living in Florida as well. Son Jared and his wife Vivian live in Orlando with their children Mischa & Sascha. Daughter Amy, her husband Jared (yes, another Jared!), and daughter Kailey have relocated from Toronto to south Florida.

Anyone who has ever worked with Allan – the Master of Mauve - knows that he goes the extra mile for the organizations in which he is involved. A true professional, he adds his own personal touch to whatever he does. And all that purple stuff? That’s a bonus.
